Meet the Team

 Alice Hughes

Head of Preschool, DSL and SENDCo

Hello, I’m Alice. I have over 13 years’ experience in working with children and young people of all ages from birth to 16. I am Level 3 qualified and have attended various courses over the years, focussing on a variety of aspects needed, for effective practice whilst working with children.

I have also gained lots of experience working 1:1 with SEND children and managing all behaviours in a setting. I am happy, bubbly and cheery and usually in high spirits! I enjoy being outdoors at home and work, whatever the weather – there are clothes for it all!

Seeing the way children develop and grow through their time at Pre-school and knowing you have been a part of it is rewarding and motivational for me. My aim is to help your child flourish and support my team to get the best out each individual.

When I was little, I thoroughly enjoyed pre-school. I remember each of my pre-school leaders and the memories they created for me. I hope your child can look back in years to come and remember much of their time at pre-school, like I do! My passion comes from my own happy times when I was their age, and interestingly, I attended Bybrook Pre-school (formerly known as Yatton Keynell Under 5’s) as a child! I am now back here as Head of Pre-school!

Abi Gilbert

Pre-school Assistant

Hello I am Abi, I have worked in child care for 15 years where I have been lucky to have worked with all age ranges, becoming management for five years. I currently hold a level 3 in childcare and level 5 in leadership and management. I enjoy supporting children through play, messy and sensory play has to be a favourite of mine.

I have a little girl of my own, who attends Bybrook Pre-school and like myself, she loves it! When we aren’t at pre-school, we enjoy having family days at home or exploring outside. We love beach walks , Cornwall is our favourite, also spending time with our extended family is important to us.

I have been at Bybrook pre-school since October 2023 and I hope to be part of the amazing team for many years, and continue to support pre-school to thrive!

Libby Poole

Pre-school Assistant

Hi, I’m Libby. I have just started my journey in childcare at Bybrook Pre-school and I can strongly say I am loving every minute of it. I have always enjoyed the thought of starting a career where I can help people and it is really nice to have found this within childcare.

I love to see the children grow and develop everyday, learning new things and building their own personalities.

Every day is different and I love it!

In my spare time, I love to enjoy the countryside, taking long walks with my family and two dogs. I also love taking care of my two horses, riding out on long hacks and enjoying the fresh air. I love being outdoors as I believe it helps to provide a clear mind for learning.

I hope to one day develop my skills further within childcare and to progress within my new career, taking courses to extend my knowledge.

Tara Sheppard

Deputy Head of Pre-school, DDSL and SENDCo

Hi, I’m Tara. I have always had a passion for childcare after my mother was a childminder for 17 years of my life. I grew up helping her make a safe, happy environment in which all the children could learn and have fun while socialising and developing life skills ready for each stage of their school journeys. I look forward to providing all these things for the children at Pre-school.

I have my level one sports leader qualification along with various other childcare related short courses. I am also a Level 3 qualified Early Years Educator.

I love being outdoors – my spare time is mainly spent farming or exercising my 8 working dogs. There is so much you can learn while enjoying the countryside so I look forward to using nature as a learning source for the children. I also love baking so hopefully I can have lots of helpers to make yummy treats for everyone to enjoy!

Sadie Vincent

Pre-school Assistant

Hello, I’m Sadie! I have worked in childcare for over 12 years with a wide range of ages. I have always had a passion for working in childcare, every day is different in a good way. Watching the children grow and learn each day is very rewarding. My aim within Bybrook is to ensure a safe, happy and enjoyable space for the children. I feel that learning through play is a great way to teach, and that’s what I will be here to do!

I am level 3 qualified in childcare, I have learnt a lot from years of experience. Working in various settings has given me great knowledge.

I have a 2 year old daughter myself, and a dog called Hazel. Sometimes it feels like I have 2 children, as they fight over toys (hazel’s mainly!). I am a very happy and bubbly person, and a child at heart!

Seeing children thrive and become individuals is the best feeling in the world and being a part of that process is very rewarding! I look forward to my time here at Bybrook Pre-School.
